"The Demise of Williams Pinball"
In late 1999, Williams Electronic Games--the largest and most famous
pinball company in the world--produced its last pinball machine. The
abrupt closing came as a shock to most: was Williams' last-ditch
initiative to reinvent pinball, "Pinball 2000", a failure? Did
management mistakes doom the company? Or is pinball simply beyond
saving? Filmmaker Greg Maletic will talk about the circumstances
leading to Williams' departure from the market, and will go into depth
about his upcoming documentary on this topic entitled "The Future of
Pinball." Greg Dunlap was at Williams at the time, and will relate
the experience through word and pictures.
4:31 PM: Tim Arnold "Creating the Pinball Hall of Fame"
Pinball is dead. Long live pinball!
5:13 PM: Dave Needle
"Pay no Attention to That Man behind the Curtain"
Stories about the less commonly known events in the birth and death
of the platforms.
Dave had a hand in creating the Amiga, Lynx, 3DO, and the arcade games
Change Lanes (Taito), Cube Quest (Simutrek), Space Wars (Midway),
Star Trek (Software and Hardware Innovative Technologies).
Dave was both master and slave to many systems and has a few stories
about the "behind the curtain" events that were part of the birth of
the machines.
6:32 PM: "The Care and Feeding of Vector Monitors"
Zonn Moore - Co-founder of Zektor, LLC
Demystifying the vector monitor. Is this for real!?! Yes!

We're planning another great show! If you want to get involved in the
planning of this year's show, send us
email!
This year's show is planned for July 26-27, at the San Jose
Convention Center, Parkside Hall. This is the same place that the show has
been the last 3 years. This year's show will be our 7th annual.
The 2002 show was a blast with over 350 games on free play!
A big "Thank You" goes out to everyone that brought games to
previous shows to share. These people put in a lot of time and effort, and
help make the show what it is today. If you attended CA Extreme in '97 or
'98, you can certainly see how much it has grown. Again, thanks!
The Metro Newspaper did a cover story article
on California Extreme,
and released it the weekend of the show! Check out the article!
